Summit ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ and New Outlook ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as private, secondary academic schools. Both residential programs are qualified to issue diplomas to students who fulfill the state requirements for graduation.
Additionally, New ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Charter School is licensed as a public charter school through a partnership with Pittsburgh Public Schools. All of our schools are subject to be in compliance with all state academic requirements during annual audits and reviews.
The Department of Human Services licenses and regulates all of the programs within The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools, with the exception of New ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Charter School which is a public school entity. The Department strives to provide the best services and living arrangements for all students, in the least restrictive environment. It is the goal of The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools to provide exceptional, quality treatment opportunities which meet the needs of those students whether it be through community-based treatment or, when appropriate, residential services.
DDAP is responsible for licensing all programs providing drug and alcohol treatment services in the state of Pennsylvania. All of The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools inpatient and outpatient treatment programs undergo annual audits with DDAP and historically maintain exceptional compliance ratings.
The significance of CARF accreditation is evidence of the that fact that our schools strive to continuously improve the quality of services by consistently meeting independently evaluated best-practice standards. The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools has earned four consecutive three-year accreditations from CARF since 2008.

A History of Success

The MISSION of The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools is to place students in a positive, productive environment, one which fosters success and nurtures the self accomplishment which naturally follows.

In 1982, founder Samuel A. Costanzo opened our first school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the request of juvenile court judges who were seeking a healthy alternative to the institutionalization of Allegheny County juvenile offenders.

The ËØÈË×ÔÅÄ Schools has never forgotten their core mission of combining rigorous educational curricula with extensive clinical treatment, counseling services, trade skills training and athletics. We seek to capture our students in their finest moments, emphasizing their successes and never letting them revert to anything less than their best.

It’s a philosophy—indeed, an entire system—that works wonders.
